Symposium Evening Events

Monday, March 18 | Food Truck Rally

After early check-in/registration at 4:30 p.m., head out to the Food Truck Rally! The National Children's Advocacy Center has partnered with the Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Von Braun Center, to bring you a variety of great food trucks, drinks, and music on the steps of the Von Braun Center, South Hall Entrance.

Participants may ride the Symposium Shuttle from official Symposium hotels to the Von Braun Center starting at 4:30 p.m.  The Symposium Shuttle will return participants to hotels immediately after the event ends at 8:00 p.m. Should you decide to enjoy any of our many downtown restaurants and entertainment district, please plan for a taxi, Uber, or Lyft.

NCAC Staff will also be on-hand during registration/check-in to assist with the Symposium Conference App download.

In case of inclement weather, the Food Truck Rally will be cancelled.  Early check-in/registration will still be open and transportation will be provided.

Tuesday, March 19 | National Children's Advocacy Center Backyard BBQ and Campus Tour

Please plan to join us Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. for a Backyard BBQ Dinner, drinks, music, and a tour of the National Children's Advocacy Center campus. We invite our friends, old and new, to this casual reunion and 35th-anniversary celebration.

Transportation to the NCAC Campus from the Von Braun Center is provided. Parking onsite is limited. The Symposium Shuttle will return participants to hotels immediately after the event.

Wednesday, March 20 | Q&A: Questions and Appetizers - Conversation with an Expert

Go beyond your workshop experience by joining select child maltreatment experts for a small-group question and answer session from 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.  This opportunity is limited to seven participants per topic/expert and advanced sign-up is required. Enjoy light refreshments in the Von Braun Center Probst Arena Lobby while taking part in a discussion with the following experts:

  • Forensic Interviewing: Andra Chamberlin and Kim Madden
  • Prosecution/Legal: Lawrence Braunstein
  • Victim Advocacy: Sheryl Stokes
  • Youth-Serving Organization: Julie Novak
  • Mental Health/Treatment: Dan Powers
  • Human Trafficking/Sexual Exploitation: Byron Fassett
  • Administration: Jerri Sites

Wednesday, March 20 | Explore Rocket City: Evening Out on Your Own

How do we make space for fun – we planet!  Take a tip from the staff of the National Children’s Advocacy Center and enjoy some out of this world restaurants and entertainment in the Rocket City.  Take a voyage to The Camp, Top Golf, Downtown Huntsville Craft Beer Trail, Huntsville Botanical Garden’s “Chinese Lantern Festival”, Campus No. 805, or explore Downtown Huntsville.

The Symposium Shuttle will return participants to hotels immediately following the conclusion of workshop sessions at 4:30 p.m.  Should you decide to venture out, please plan for a taxi, Uber, or Lyft.
